2023 Annual Banquet Speaker

Dale A. Rosselet
Vice President for Education at New Jersey Audubon Education Department
A Jersey Girl’s Passion for Nature and STEM: Using Birds as a Springboard for Learning
Picture
We all know that students are more motivated to learn if their teacher is truly passionate about the subject and makes it come alive.  Join Dale Rosselet, New Jersey Audubon’s Vice President for Education for this whirlwind tour of New Jersey’s bird migration, backyard birds, bird science, bird conservation, birds and climate change, bird competitions, youth birding opportunities and of course, the beauty and comfort given from connecting with nature through birds and birdwatching.

Ms. Rosselet has been with New Jersey Audubon since 1983 and has extensive experience teaching pre-school, elementary, and secondary grades in both formal and non-formal situations. As Vice President for Education she oversees all statewide and center-based educational programming efforts for the organization as well as nature center operations.  She chairs the governor-appointed New Jersey Commission for Environmental Education and is past President of the Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education, NJ’s statewide professional organization for environmental educators.   Ms. Rosselet has co-authored several ecology-based curriculum guides for teachers including Bridges to the Natural World and NJ WATERS:  A Watershed Approach to Teaching the Ecology of Regional Systems.

Additionally, Ms. Rosselet has led dozens of U.S and international nature-based and birdwatching tours for NJ Audubon and other organizations.  She is an accomplished birdwatcher and co-authored Birding by Impression:  A Different Approach to Knowing and Identifying Birds with her husband, Kevin T. Karlson.
