Welcome fellow science educators and enthusiasts! We are at a crossroads in our science classrooms and it is you, the educators in attendance here, who will determine how New Jersey moves forward. You have each chosen to dedicate this time to learning, to examining new resources, and to refining your practice. You are the ones leading New Jersey toward a new model of science teaching: one grounded in evidence-based, three-dimensional, phenomena driven instruction that positions students as doers and knowers of science, not passive recipients of it. This work matters. The educators who invest in their own growth in this room are the ones who will determine what science instruction looks like for the next generation of New Jersey students. I am consistently inspired by colleagues who attend this convention year after year to sharpen their craft and carry what they learn back into their classrooms and their districts. NJSTA is proud to support you in this effort. Please consider becoming a member of, or increasing your involvement with, NJSTA. Our Annual Fall General Membership meeting will take place on Tuesday at 2:15 pm in Nassau 27, where new officers will be installed and annual reports presented. All are welcome. Looking ahead, join us also at our Professional Learning Day on Sensemaking, cohosted with Rutgers CMSCE on January 20, 2027, where you will have the opportunity to spend a full day digging into sensemaking in the classroom, student discourse, anchoring phenomena and more. Please enjoy the many valuable experiences while attending NJSC. I look forward to learning alongside you. Warmly, Mariel Kolker President, New Jersey Science Teachers Association Comments are closed.
