This award honors Anton Banko, an engineer who co-invented small incision cataract surgery. The technologies and procedures he pioneered are still used by surgeons today, and represent a true milestone in the evolution of STEM applications. It is in his memory that we celebrate an exceptional elementary teacher from New Jersey who is inspiring the next generation of inventors, scientists, and engineers.
