2020 Anton Banko Award

for Excellence in Teaching Elementary Science
This award honors Anton Banko, an engineer who co-invented small incision cataract surgery. The technologies and procedures he pioneered are still used by surgeons today, and represent a true milestone in the evolution of STEM applications. It is in his memory that we celebrate an exceptional elementary teacher from New Jersey who is inspiring the next generation of inventors, scientists, and engineers.

Established in 2006 by members of the Science Convention Steering Committee, this award is given to a person who has served on the Steering Committee for a minimum of 15 years, has contributed extraordinarily to the success of the Convention, and has had a significant impact on the success of the Convention.
